Detailed Description:
The Assistant Director for Alumni Marketing and Technology is responsible for developing high-impact marketing and communication materials and providing a compelling web/social media presence to generate awareness, attendance, and support for Alumni Association initiatives, events, and activities. In doing so, this position is charged with telling the stories of the work born from and championed by the Alumni Association with the purpose of building a deep sense of belonging between alumni and their alma mater. The assistant director manages the Alumni Association's online community platform (iModules), addresses technical issues with the platform, and disseminates key analytics. This position develops email campaigns, publishes a monthly alumni e-newsletter, builds event calendars, and generates complex online registrations. The assistant director supports an Alumni Association Board of Directors committee and represents the Office of Alumni Relations in meetings and at events. This position must be committed to staying abreast of changes in digital communications and the technology for online community platforms, actively seeking new ways to help Alumni Relations reach its engagement goals.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Alumni Outreach and Marketing
Develop strategies with director and senior director of Alumni Relations to enhance marketing appeal, promote event participation, expand affinity outreach, highlight alumni and campus-wide programming, reinforce institutional messaging, and streamline Alumni Association communication.
Manage the Alumni Association's website and affiliated web pages; review and update content to ensure all pages are refreshed and current.
Oversee the Alumni Association social media platforms and manage Alumni Association social media campaigns including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Linked In, and Hootsuite.
Develop email templates and schedules for general communication, regional events, fundraising campaigns, etc.
Create and deliver targeted, compelling, and coordinated electronic outreach from the Alumni Association; as appropriate, disseminate and respond to critical messages.
Create a comprehensive marketing plan for each signature Alumni Association event; closely coordinate with Creative Services, Digital Communications, and University Events and Partnerships.
Publish monthly alumni e-newsletter; solicit relevant and timely contributions from campus partners.
Create and maintain the Featured Torero program including but not limited to Torero Love Stories, HIRE USD, and volunteer leadership highlights.
Develop ad content as appropriate for social media advertising, sponsorships, and alumni programming.
Represent Alumni Relations in administrative marketing/communications meetings; communicate and coordinate Alumni Relations' social media execution strategies to maximize audience engagement.
Technology Management
Administer iModules online community platform including but not limited to:
Customize online registration forms and event pages;
Create and oversee event framework for calendaring;
Track registrations and event revenue;
Manage membership records and update alumni directory (Torero Network);
Collaborate with Advancement Services to ensure dataflow integrity;
Ensure student access to Torero Network in partnership with Career Development and other stakeholders.
Serve as main point of contact for system administrators and troubleshoot member issues and technological matters.
Create pathways for revenue streams and correct revenue account assignments for commerce forms and events through CashNet payment gateways.
Develop custom email list segmentation using Elucian Advance Cognos reporting.
Collect and analyze usage data from communication engagement; track open rates, unique opens, and click-through rates; establish custom bitly links.
Provide web update training to key staff members and volunteers.
Alumni Association Board of Directors Committee Staffing
Act as a liaison and staff support for at least one committee of the Alumni Association Board of Directors.
Schedule and facilitate meeting dates, teleconferences, logistics, and composition of membership of each committee.
Track committee progress and work with volunteer chair to assure goals are being pursued and met.
Provide constructive feedback to the senior director and Executive Committee on the progress/ viability of the committees.
Ensure committee is moving in the right direction, providing constructive feedback on strategy, goals, and implementation of programs.
Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required; in English, Communications, and/or Marketing preferred.
Three years' experience in electronic communications, social media management, and web content writing.
Fluency with video development/editing programs. Experience working in Adobe Premiere Pro is preferred.
Experience in web development with iModules or other Customer Relationship Management web technologies is desirable
Experience developing in HTML/CSS.
Excellent written and oral communication skills required as well as exceptional critical listening and thinking skills. Command of the English language, including AP writing style, and standard grammar, spelling, punctuation, syntax, and proofreading skill.
Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including but not limited to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher or another desktop publishing program is preferable.
Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to work well with others in a team environment and under deadline pressure. Must have strong initiative and ability to complete assignments without close supervision.
USD alumnus/a preferred.

Possess an understanding of modern marketing communication techniques and heightened awareness of social media trends required.
Demonstrated ability to supervise and successfully manage all phases of the creative development process.
Demonstrated ability to write clearly and concisely within deadlines, and to develop and execute production schedules from concept through completion.
Ability to implement tools to analyze web traffic and create marketing reports from such data.
Must be able to work independently, taking initiative and be able to ascertain priorities in a dynamic environment of regular interruptions, multiple projects, and deadlines.
Must have the ability to establish and maintain productive working relationships with a diverse group of staff and volunteers and maintain an attitude that conveys respect.
Ability to effectively trouble-shoot and exercise independent judgment to accommodate constituent (i.e. alumni, students, volunteers, etc.) concerns.
Must possess flexibility and versatility in order to meet continually shifting priorities.
Must exhibit attention to detail with excellent organizational and time management skills; remain professional under pressure and be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to handle confidential information with tact and discretion.
Must be willing to frequently work after standard work hours and on weekends; some travel may be involved.
Must be friendly and personable.
