Assistant Professor of Music Technology



The School of Music in the College of Communication, Fine Arts and Media at the University of Nebraska at Omaha invites applications for a full-time (tenure-track) Assistant Professor of Music Technology effective August 2025. Primary teaching responsibilities include instruction in audio recording and music technology. Additional responsibilities consist of the supervision of senior capstone projects and the music technology facilities.



The candidate should have a strong background as a musician with experience in a variety of styles and genres and can work closely with areas across the university to develop interdisciplinary projects and curricula, in addition to developing their own individual trajectory of research and creativity that is expected of a tenure-track Assistant Professor at a research university. Additional areas of expertise could include acoustics/psychoacoustics, audio spatialization, commercial music, music perception and cognition, multimedia production, or live performance audio. The candidate is expected to demonstrate a commitment to diversity and be involved in service within the university and appropriate professional organizations.



This position requires a master’s degree and demonstrated excellence in the application and teaching of music technology. Preferred qualification includes demonstrated professional experience in audio recording and production. Starting date for this position is August 18, 2025. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.

The School of Music, one of three academic units within the College of Communication, Fine Arts and Media, is located in its own performing arts complex. With a faculty of 45, the School enrolls approximately 200 students and offers the Bachelor of Music degree with concentrations in Music Education and Performance, a Bachelor of Arts degree with concentrations in Music Studies, Music Technology, Jazz and Music Industry; and the Master of Music degree with concentrations in Conducting, Music Education, Jazz and Performance. The School of Music is a fully accredited member of the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM).
