Position Summary
Slippery Rock University invites applications for a broadly trained zoologist for a tenure track Assistant Professor position in the Department of Biology, beginning August 2019. Responsibilities will include teaching zoology, anatomy and physiology, courses in the area of specialization, lower-level biology majors courses, and non-major biology courses included in the Liberal Studies Program, as well as establishing a productive research program in the candidate's area of expertise that can involve undergraduates. The applicant must exhibit a commitment to excellence in teaching in a Liberal Arts setting, and contribute to department, college, and university committees. Candidate must provide teaching and research philosophies as well as evidence of effectiveness in teaching and research. The department expects the faculty to conduct research leading to publication in peer-reviewed, professional journals in the applicant's area of expertise.

Minimum Qualifications
ABD in a sub-discipline of the biological sciences, PhD must be completed by July 1, 2019. Evidence of professional competence, and ability to work productively with students and colleagues. Commitment to the education of diverse populations. Successful performance in an on campus interview, including a teaching and a research presentation.

Preferred Qualifications
At least one year of undergraduate teaching experience, evidence of teaching effectiveness. Broadly trained zoologist preferred.
