Job Summary
The internal technical business specialist for the assigned division and/or department. Partners with business and/or functional units within the University to understand the technical business needs to implement and maintain IT solutions to meet the objectives. Provides technical guidance to others within the business or functional team across the application portfolio. Leads and develops business relationships and expertise in the operations of specific business units and serves as the liaison between the business or functional unit and IT. Provides valid and reliable data visualizations used to support continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Responsible for supporting the technical business needs and/or functional application and solutions, ensuring their quality, reliability, and stability in collaboration with University Information Technology Services (UITS)
2. Gathers standard and ad hoc reports according to established frequencies
3. Creates reports and provides analysis and interpretation of data from the unit's application portfolio
4. Communicates and reports the data needs, partnering with other departments as needed (i.e., Institutional Research (IR))
5. Manages and maintains relationships with key departments throughout the University to identify and understand customer needs, and implement solutions that best support their objectives
6. Provides advanced business, and/or functional expertise and works closely with other technical staff, functional teams, and vendors in collaboration with UITS
7. Participates in feasibility studies, reviews vendor contracts and SLAs, and participates in development of procurement solicitations
8. Contributes to development of best practices for monitoring and in determining resource needs to ensure application is available for customers
9. Leads implementation projects for the team, providing updates on project progress, and proactively communicating issues that may impact project success
10. Maintains application functional and business documentation
11. Keeps stakeholders informed of all relevant updates (system enhancements, system upgrades, system outages, project updates, etc.) around applications, services, projects, initiatives
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education, preferably in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science or related field
Required Experience
Three (3) years of related experience
Preferred Qualifications
Additional Preferred Qualifications
Certification in one or more data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or SPSS
Preferred Educational Qualifications
An advanced degree from an accredited institution of higher education relevant to job
Preferred Experience
Experience with application(s) and/or information systems for the assigned division/department
Previous experience in a higher education setting
Experience with Watermark or similar application and faculty information systems
Experience with data visualization
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and SQL

Proposed Salary
The budgeted salary range is $58,000 to $67,600. Offers are based on relevant experience.

Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e., Microsoft Office suite)
