The Department of Nutritional Sciences in the College of Health and Human Sciences at Texas Tech University invites applications for a full-time, 9-month, tenured acquiring, Open Rank Professor to begin September 1, 2025.

Major/Essential Functions
In line with TTU's strategic priorities to engage and empower a diverse student body, enable innovative research and creative activities, and transform lives and communities through outreach and engaged scholarship, applicants should have experience working with diverse student populations at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels within individual or across the areas of teaching, research/creative activity, and service.

As a faculty member in the Department of Nutritional Sciences, you will be expected to:
  1. Focus on the interface between electronic sensor technology and human behavior and choices related to food and energy metabolism.
  2. Teach undergraduate and graduate courses, face-to-face and online.
  3. Mentor MS and PhD students and assist in recruitment of graduate students.
  4. Develop and maintain a high impact scholarly research program via publications and external funding.
  5. Develop research collaboration both within and across disciplines (specifically the Whitacre College of Engineering) in order to develop interdisciplinary research teams.


Required Qualifications
  1. An earned doctorate in Nutritional Sciences, Public Health, or other disciplines with a research focus in Nutrition.
  2. Demonstrated record of effective teaching at the college level, commensurate with rank.
  3. Demonstrated record of applying for extramural research grants, commensurate with rank.
  4. Demonstrated record of peer reviewed publications, commensurate with rank.


Preferred Qualifications
In addition to the required qualifications, individuals with the following preferred qualifications are strongly encouraged to apply:
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize learning management systems including online course delivery.
  • Track record of establishing a high-impact research program in human behavior and nutrition, emphasizing the integration of electronic sensor technology, AI-driven analytics, and/or biosystems to advance understanding of dietary choices, energy metabolism, and behavior change.
  • Extramural funding received as principal investigator, commensurate with rank.
  • Demonstrated record of collaborative research projects.
  • Peer reviewed publications in capacity as principal author (first or last author or corresponding author), commensurate with rank.
  • Experience mentoring graduate and undergraduate students, commensurate with rank.
