Position Description
Safely performs journeyperson level tasks in the fabrication, construction, maintenance, alteration and repair of fixtures, equipment, structures, buildings, and built-in components for Texas Tech facilities. Works under general supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

Major/Essential Functions

Performs component replacement/repairs for steam & condensate components & the associated distribution network. Repairs or fabricates equipment such as: steam traps, piping, etc.
Performs preventive and predictive maintenance for tunnel steam, condensate, air, and water distribution systems to include all aspects of service, renovation, and testing of components. Provides repairs for less than satisfactory systems.
Must safely perform skilled work and understand the theory and application of high pressure and temperature steam systems and their relationship to the function of the process involved. General knowledge & ability to safely perform inspection and repairs of steam traps, valves, and distribution network components.
Must have the ability to perform tasks in a subterranean tunnel system and/or confined work environment.

Required Qualifications
Proficiency in written and mathematical skills as may be reflected in the completion of high school or equivalent. Must have a valid driver's license and be insurable to operate motor vehicles.

Preferred Qualifications
Working knowledge of operation and safe use of all power & hand tools/equipment to complete daily tasks. Demonstrate the ability to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical problems. Effective communication skills.

Minimum Hire Rate
Compensation will be based on the knowledge, skills, abilities, and defined years of experience to align with the appropriate career levels for the Tradesperson specialty in the Operations Division Facilities Maintenance Career Plan.
